I really didn't like this book. I didn't finish it. I thought it was hagiographic and poorly-written. Your mileage may vary. Pattle was doubtless an amazing guy. He flew early missions in WWII in biplanes before getting monoplanes! He may be the Allies leading ace. Record-keeping was not the RAF's strong suit in the Middle East and Greece, so his count of victories is a bit vague, but it probably puts him in the top 200 aces in WWII. N.B. To a first approximation all those above him on the list were German. We can hope that someday somebody will write a better book about "Pat" Pattle.
